New Zealand Threatened Plants are a feature of the property.

A community nursery enables individuals and groups to grow native plants for conservation project and a purpose build Education Centre is available for school visits and workshops.

A QEII open space covenant protects 3 hectares of kahikatea dominated mature podocarp forest together with a buffer area where native bush and a recreated wetland area are being restored.
