
Minister of Conservation seeking nominations for QEII Chair

Looking to make a real difference for our environment, through conservation? An opportunity has opened for an experienced Director or Chair to join in this valuable work.
The Minister of Conservation is seeking nominations for the role of Chair of the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust’s Board of Directors. The appointment will take effect immediately upon confirmation, for a term of up to three years.
Queen Elizabeth II National Trust is a statutory organisation, independent from the Government. Its primary objective is to protect open spaces of special significance, alongside private landowners, for the benefit of Aotearoa New Zealand’s people and unique biodiversity. The Minister is seeking to appoint an experienced Chair with proven skills in:
- corporate governance,
- strategic and change leadership,
- government engagement, and
- stakeholder engagement – particularly regarding agriculture and conservation.
Advanced financial acumen and an understanding of Te Ao Māori are desirable attributes for the Chair. Previous constructive engagement with the Trust would be an advantage.
In making appointments to this Board, the Minister has regard to environmental and conservation values, the interests of rural landowners, and the interests of the Māori community.
