PHYSICAL ADDRESS
Located a few kilometers north of Apiti village. Head up Table Flat Road and follow the sign posts to Sixtus Lodge and the glow worm caves. You will find a sign post on the right-hand side of the road directing you to the caves.

PARKING
Park on the side of the road and walk down the track to Limestone Creek, walking upstream about 80 meters. Cross the river and follow a well-trodden track.

Apiti means “gorge” in Maori — an accurate description of the high hills and intersecting gullies of the Apiti district lying 40 km north of Feilding.

The Warrens’ covenant near Apiti village protects a limestone gorge with a glow worm cave and many varieties of fern and orchid that grow on the sheer walls of damp gorge environments.

A 600 meter loop track leads visitors through the gorge, passing through beech forest on its return. The glow worms in the cave can be seen during the day, but the best display is at night. When visiting at night, torches are required on the path. Once in the cave, restrict the use of your torch as it disrupts the glow worms and you will miss out seeing them.

Be mindful that this is private property. Please help protect the surrounding environment by staying on the track. Take care on the track as its surface is uneven and it can be quite slippery at times. Visitors enter at their own risk.
