The reserve is 10 km north of Tolaga Bay near Mangatuna, on the western side off State Highway 35. Turn of the highway onto Paroa Road, where the walking access is signposted.

Spencer Reserve
A tranquil public recreation area, bordered by the Hikuwai River, ideal for picnics and scenic enjoyment. The site is of historic / archaeological significance and contains regenerating native riparian forest. Walking access only is available by right-of-way across adjacent private farmland – please respect the farmer’s property.
The 31-hectare property was gifted to QEII in 1987 by Miss M.K. Spencer, whose family had previously farmed the property, to be managed for public recreation and education.
